Peter Friberg, MD, PhD, co-founder and former Director of SIGHT, the Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He is professor of global public health at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and “Inspector” for the Sahlgrenska Academy Student Union. He is the former president of the Swedish Society of Medicine. He has served as member of the committee for development research of the Swedish Research Council and chairperson of the health promotion and behavior panel at Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare. His research is focused on adolescent health by means of longitudinal studies of a recently created cohort of 13 year-olds, STARS ( STudy on Adolescence Resilience and Stress). Recently co-chaired a Lancet Commission on "Peaceful societies through health equity and gender equality.
