The COVID-19 pandemic has acted as a catalyst for a digital revolution in healthcare, presenting both unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the global healthcare system. While the positive impact of telemedicine is undeniable, its widespread scalability encounters several barriers. Regulatory constraints, privacy apprehensions, the seamless integration of digital solutions into existing healthcare frameworks, and the absence of robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms are persistent challenges that can potentially impede the sustained success of these innovative solutions. While many countries are making strides and actively addressing these challenges, mutual learning remains crucial. Tracking progress through specific indicators could serve as the pathway forward, enabling us to learn from each other's advancements in overcoming these hurdles.

This side meeting aims to bring together telemedicine suppliers and users from different countries to explore the transformative role of digital health technology and understand its varying applications worldwide. The objective of this side meeting is to:

  •  gain deeper insights into diverse telemedicine systems across various contexts.
  • generate a set of action points that participants can take back to support and enhance telemedicine initiatives; and
  • to create a network of experts to initiate action and collaboration in order to advance the digital health agenda.
