This meeting will focus on sub-theme 3: Reimagining Global Health: Decolonization of Global Health Governance.  India, Indonesia and Philippines have all introduced bold policies that underpin ambitious health sector reform agendas focused on prioritizing primary health care as a strategic mechanism to achieve UHC and the SDGs. The meeting will use the experience of implementing primary health care (PHC) in these countries to examine approaches and strategies to address and redress the power imbalance in access to and utilization of health services. A closer look at the health system reform journeys of these 3 giants of the global south in advancing PHC, allows for the decentralization of knowledge. The meeting will also use local experiences to inform and influence global learning around PHC. Moving resources closer to the communities supports local ownership of priorities, resources, and implementation in addition to promoting sustainability and institutionalization of core capacities. Integral to strengthening health systems is making sure local voices are engaged, supported, and empowered to lead their own development journeys.

This session will provide an opportunity for each country to shed light on the strategic shifts in their PHC approaches in addition to exploring what implementation and action looks like at the frontline. Finally the session will discuss the role of USAID’s localization vision in empowering  grassroot stakeholders to be accountable for their own health and wellness and create a more resilient and responsive health system,

Panelists will include Ministry of Health representatives, global leaders in the PHC space, health workers, community volunteers and local organizations.
